Marcus Rashford seen at a Belfast nightclub shortly before calling in sick for Manchester United training

Marcus Rashford was seen at a Belfast nightclub just before notifying Manchester United of his illness.

The 26-year-old reportedly enjoyed consecutive nights out at Thompsons Garage nightclub.

He was observed leaving the nightclub on Thursday evening and subsequently flew back via private jet the next morning, according to The Athletic.

Erik ten Hag mentioned that Rashford couldn't participate in training on Friday due to illness ahead of Manchester United's FA Cup match against Newport on Sunday.

The Red Devils manager stated, "This morning, Rashford was ill and (Jonny) Evans was ill, so we have to see how they recover." Manchester United declined to comment on the matter.

The team had been granted time off before the FA Cup game on Sunday following their 2-2 draw with Tottenham on January 14. Rashford had reportedly participated in training sessions earlier in the week.

It is believed that he visited the nightclub to meet with former academy teammate Ro-Shaun Williams, who recently joined Northern Irish side Larne.

This incident is not the first time Rashford's presence at a nightclub has stirred controversy.

After their 3-0 derby loss to Man City in November, he was photographed going out.

Ten Hag addressed the issue, stating, "I spoke with him about it. It’s unacceptable. He apologized, and that is it.

For us, it’s an internal matter." He emphasized that Rashford is highly motivated to rectify the situation, remains fully committed to the team, and that the incident does not question his fit within the squad. Ten Hag affirmed, "He has made a mistake, but that doesn’t say he’s not fitting in. I see him every day in training, what he’s doing, I know."
