Stephen A. Smith Acknowledges Nikola Jokic's Excellence but Refrains from Declaring Him NBA MVP

Stephen A. Smith, known for his bold opinions, recently expressed his reluctance to name Nikola Jokic as the NBA MVP, despite acknowledging the player's exceptional skills. In a recent appearance on Denver's 104.3 The Fan radio show, Smith initially commended Jokic as the best in the game and the standard for excellence.

Despite this praise, Smith surprising chose Jayson Tatum as his pick for NBA MVP immediately after acknowledging Jokic's talent.

It's worth noting that Smith has a history of making controversial comments about Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. Last year, he referred to Jokic as "a big tub of lard." In his recent radio show appearance, Smith seemed to backtrack a bit, continuing to laud Jokic's skills and expressing admiration for the Nuggets.

"I’ve never seen anything like it, his [Jokic's] footwork, his IQ, his skillset, he’s the best in the game. Michael Malone is a great coach and his name needs to come up more often. And I challenge anyone to find a bigger fan of Jamal Murray than me… Murray is great, Jokic is the best in the game, Malone is an elite coach and the organization is first class top to bottom, and I think Jokic and Murray are the top tandem in basketball… when they’re both clicking the Nuggets look unbeatable,” said Smith during the radio show.
